College Station Comic Con is one of those events that you just can’t wait to return to year after year. From the vibrant community to the exciting panels and the incredible guests, it’s a convention that truly has it all. As I gear up to attend next year's event, I’m excited to share some of the highlights from my past experiences and what I’m looking forward to in the future.
Held in the heart of Aggieland, this convention stands out not just for its impressive lineup of guests but for the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes every attendee feel like part of a big nerdy family. One of the best parts was having a con close to home, allowing us to enjoy the day and then sleep in our own beds afterward! (Because man hosting a booth while also being disabled is sometimes a strain)
The convention was the smoothest of the year, thanks to the incredible organization and dedication of the hosts from Hub City Comic Con. They did an amazing job making sure everything went smoothly for their first year in College Station, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
Notable encounters:
Marty Grabstein: The iconic voice of Courage from "Courage the Cowardly Dog." Marty Grabstein was incredibly sweet and even signed the Maxs mask for his Ustase cosplay.
Kari Wahlgren: The voice behind Celty from "Durarara!!" was a delight, excitedly holding the scythe I made and loving that I wore a black mask under my helmet for my Celty cosplay. She signed the helmet I crafted for the cosplay and was so impressed that she asked to take a photo of me on her phone. Their genuine interactions made the experience even more special.
The cosplay at College Station Comic Con was top-notch. The amazing cosplay competition showcased a variety of impressive and creative costumes, making it one of the highlights of the event. The dedication and skill of the cosplayers added an extra layer of excitement and enjoyment to the convention.
The vendor hall was a treasure trove of geeky goodies. Last year, I found unique collectibles, handmade crafts, and, of course, added a few more items to my ever-growing collection of nerdy memorabilia. With the voice actors at the end of each row allowing you to see and wait for the shortest line possible. So whether you’re looking for rare comics, art prints, or custom-made accessories, you’re sure to find something that catches your eye.
As I prepare for next year’s College Station Comic Con, I’m filled with anticipation. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with friends, meeting new people, and diving into another round of panels, cosplay, and, of course, shopping with my fellow vendors in the vendor hall. Each year brings something new and exciting, and I can’t wait to see what this convention has in store.
